Describe what you do at Grace.
I am currently serving as an elder at GBC. I co-teach in the Faithbuilders fellowship group and lead a community group in El Dorado Hills. I have previously served in children’s ministries and taught in various Sunday School classes and leadership positions in former churches. I am a graduate of the Sacramento Bible Institute (1983) where I majored in Bible.
What are you most passionate about when it comes to ministry?
I enjoy getting to know other believers one-on-one and listening to their praises and prayer requests with regard to how the Lord is working in their life. God is doing great things through His saints and it is exciting to see and hear about it firsthand. I desire to be a better Bible teacher and continue to grow and not hinder the Lord’s work in my life and in others.
Briefly, describe how you came to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior
I was raised in a Christian home and attended church before I can even remember. I struggled in my heart as a child and then at the age of 16, while attending a youth camp, I came to a personal faith in Christ Jesus and have been serving Him ever since. I have been married to my best friend, Sandi, for 32 years. We enjoy serving the Lord together and were involved in Christian service together even before we were married. We have two adult children, Emily and Thomas. Emily is currently living in South Lake Tahoe and working as a school teacher and Thomas is a deacon at GBC and quite involved in the church services ministries.
What is something someone would be surprised to know about you?
I am an “Alabama Boy” and was born in Mobile, Ala.
What is the best lesson you learned from your parents?
Anything worth doing takes effort and hard work. Always leave things better than you found them.
Among your friends or family, what are you famous for?
We have heated our home primarily with a wood stove for the past 19 years so I am usually asked how my woodpile is and if I have enough to get through the winter.
