Equipping Hour -

Winter 2022

9:00 | Growing in Prayer | Student Center

Mark Hardy

The purpose of this course is for us to grow in both our knowledge and practice of prayer.  We will particularly focus on the teachings and example of our Lord Jesus in the area of prayer.  We will also study the prayers of the Apostle Paul and his teachings on the subject, as well as the prayers of Old Testament saints.  The course will also include instruction on helpful prayer techniques, such as prayer walks, corporate prayer, and praying through scripture.  We will emphasize putting what we are learning into practice, both in our Sunday morning gatherings and during the week, so that we exit the course having stronger and more biblical prayer lives.

9:00 | Soul Care | F3 Portable Classroom

GBC Elders

In response to hearing about someone’s difficult situation, have you ever thought, “I wish I could help, but I don’t know where to start?” Soul Care is designed to help you grow in coming alongside people, and walking with them through life’s many difficulties. The commands to care for one another, speak truth to one another, bear one another’s burdens are given to all believers. But so often believers feel that only a professional counselor, or a pastor is qualified to help. This is not the biblical model of care. The Bible calls every believer to grow in maturity and to speak truth to people and build them up in love (Eph 4:15-16). Soul Care is designed to be the entry point of learning how to do this better. Biblically, change is a community project. Soul Care is required for all of our Community Group leaders, but we pray that everyone in our church will eventually go through this training. We believe that this will help us become a church that is known for our love and care, as we seek to help others follow Christ more. This class has a capacity limit of 26.

9:00 | Parenting the Older Years | Family Center

Rick & Pat Gregory and John & Sharon Cassidy

We comically recall before we had children, we thought we had all the answers about how parents ought to be raising their children … and then we had some of our own and we realized our idealism failed to align with realism! This course will address how to navigate through the stages of parenting dealing with school-age children. There aren’t “pat” answers to parenting, but there are principles that God’s Word provides us to guide us in our stewardships as parents rearing our children. We will seek to equip parents in this class to know and apply these principles consistently to the glory of Christ Jesus. It will be team taught by Pastor Rick & Pat (via a short video) and led by Pat Gregory together with John and Sharon Cassidy.

11:00 | Christology | Family Center

George Liepart

The Christian faith is centered around the person and work of Jesus Christ. He is our Savior, our Lord, and our God, and there is nothing more edifying or important than knowing who he is. This course will take a deep dive into how Scripture presents the second member of the Trinity.

11:00 | Discovering Grace | Student Center

Brian Liebich and GBC Elders

This course serves as an introduction to Grace Bible Church for those who are interested in becoming members or simply want to learn more about our church. It will cover the doctrinal statement of GBC as well as our vision of each person engaging in discipleship and helping another follow Jesus better. We will cover what discipleship is and how you can engage in discipleship practically at Grace Bible Church.
